Preneed

Pre-arranged funeral services

There are two main reasons for pre-arranging one’s funeral, one emotional and the other financial. For some it is a less draining emotional experience to deal with the arrangements of a person’s death while that loved one is still alive. Time can be taken to explore all options. Intellectual rather than strictly emotional decisions can be made. If you are making these arrangements for yourself you have spared family the decisions that must be made at the time of your death and you have guaranteed that your final tribute is in accordance with your wishes. Prearranging is also a way of protecting your finances if nursing home care becomes an issue. You are allowed to place some assets aside to be used for your funeral.

Cota Funeral Homes offers you the option of funded or unfunded preneed contracts. An unfunded contract is merely a record of your desires, which would be kept on file to be shared with family at the time of your death. It could include everything from the casket you prefer, the hours of visitation, the clothing, and the selection of hymns to be sung. If you decide to fund your contract we offer two funding vehicles. One is the New England Funeral Trust and the other is a Forethought insurance policy. By completely funding your prearrangement contract, the price at the time of arrangements is guaranteed.  Traditional life insurance policy assignments may also be used for funding a prearrangement.  We will explore all options with you.

If you have any questions regarding preneed, please contact us at either funeral home.
