Scavongelli, Phyllis “Fanny” (DiBattista) -Of Southborough, formerly of East Boston and Reading, May 19th. Beloved wife of the late Domenic Scavongelli and Phil Salvaggio. Mother of Barbara Manzelli and her late husband Anthony of Southborough and Phil Salvaggio and his wife Karen of Wilmington. Sister of Julia Piazza of Lancaster and the late Maria Casaletto, Libby DiBatista, Frank DiBatista, Helen Fabello and John DiBatista. Grandmother of Michael, Lynne, Barbara, Tom, Craig and Glen. Great grandmother of thirteen. Phyllis is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (corner of Park St. and Rte. 28), North Reading, at Reading line, on Wednesday, May 24th at 10:30am. A funeral Mass will be held in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 11am. Relatives and friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30am-10:30am. Interment Charles Lawn Cemetery, Reading. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fanny’s memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472. Fanny was a graduate of Boston Trade School where she learned the trade of dress making. She then became a maker of custom draperies and accessories for many decorators and designers. She was blessed to travel the world with her late husband Domenic Scavongelli. She will be remembered by many not as a page in the book of life, but as the “Book of Life.” Fanny loved music and fashion and passing down family recipes.
