Kenneth C. McHowell

Kenneth C. McHowell, beloved husband of Carol Caruso, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the age of 82.  Born in Boston, Ken is the loving son of the late Herbert J. and Frances (Dolan) McHowell.

Ken grew up in Dorchester and attended Boston English High School.  A veteran of the United States Army, Ken served and was stationed overseas in Korea and stateside in Georgia; he is also a member of the American Legion Post in Burlington.  Ken is an avid sports fan, especially the Red Sox.  As a kid, Ken’s dad worked as an usher at Fenway Park and would get Ken in to watch the Sox play. 

Ken married the love of his life Carol and they spent 35 years of marriage together.  Settling in Woburn, Ken also worked as a manager doing security until his retirement.  He is a major history buff.  Ken could often be found reading up on Chinese and Japanese history.  Ken is an easy going and generous man.  He always made sure to tip his server and care for his wife and family.  Ken was happiest watching the Red Sox on his big screen TV and being with his family.  He will be deeply missed by close family and friends.

In addition to being the devoted husband of Carol, he is the loving father of Laurie Plantamuro of Salem, New Hampshire.  Cherished Grandpa of Alex Plantamuro and Rebecca Alice Plantamuro.  Beloved step father of Jodi Glazebrook. Loving brother of Elaine Navratil of Arizona.  Beloved brother-in-law of Richard Caruso and his wife Carolyn and uncle of Michelle Caruso Cabrera, Bethany Caruso, Richard Caruso and Kenneth Caruso.   Ken also leaves many loving and dear friends.

Family and friends are cordially invited to visiting hours at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading (Corner of Park St. and Rt. 28 at the Reading Line) on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 from 4 to 8pm.

Funeral to be held from the Cota Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass to Celebrate Ken at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading at 10:30am.

Burial to follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Salem St., Woburn.

Following the burial, family and friends are cordially invited to join with Ken's Family at the Cafe Escadrille, 26 Cambridge St., Burlington at 1:00pm.
