Dr. Bruce R. Russell

Reading, MA – Dr. Bruce R. Russell (70) died May 24th, 2019, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of nearly 44 years of Pamela (Karsa) Russell. He was the loving father of Jonathan Russell and his fiancé Amanda Bridgewater-Alvarez of Watertown, and Lyndsey Ladd and her husband Brendon of Foxboro. He was the cherished grandfather of Wesley and Iain Ladd.

Dr. Russell was born and raised in Malden, MA, the son of the late George and Phyllis (Brown) Russell.

Dr. Russell attended Malden High School and went on to graduate from Merrimack College with a degree in Biology. He then moved to Chicago to pursue his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree at Loyola University School of Dentistry, where he met his wife Pamela. Following dental school, Dr. and Mrs. Russell ran a private dental practice in Malden where Dr. Russell cared for many patients over a long career; becoming not only his patients’ dentist, but also their friend and confidant.

Anyone who knew Dr. Russell would describe him as soft-spoken, kind, compassionate, and the type of person who could talk about anything. He took a genuine interest in getting to know people and their stories. He loved discussing anything, especially aviation, history, and science.

Dr. Russell was a very passionate animal lover, and adopted many dogs, birds, and other small pets from shelters over the years.  As such, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (www.mspca.org). 

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Bruce’s life. Visitation with memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at The Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (Corner of Park St. and Rte. 28) North Reading (on the Reading line).
