Carmela (Marra) Vitale, 91 years of age, of Stoneham formerly of East Boston, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 18, 2024. Carmela was born in Volturara Irpina, Avellino, Italy on February 15, 1932, to the late Marcello and Nicoletta (Gioella) Marra. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonardo Vitale. Loving mother of Anthony and his wife Lisa Vitale, Gerard and his wife Joan Vitale, Anna and her husband Todd Kerkorian and Christina DiLibero. Her most cherished role was that of grandmother to Katie Benedetti and her husband Nathan, Daniel Vitale, Joseph Vitale, Nicholas Vitale, Christopher Vitale, Marina Kerkorian, Erik Jr. and Matthew DiLibero. Adoring great-grandmother to Ellie, Jack and Noah Benedetti. Dear sister of Pompeo Marra and his wife Elena, Genoveffa Marra, and sister-in-law Assunta Monzione, and the late Michele Marra, Mario Marra, Giulia Marra, Generoso Alessandro Marra and Generoso Marra. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Carmela was a hardworking woman who was dedicated to making sure her children and grandchildren were happy and well fed. She cherished every moment spent with her family as they were the lights of her life. Her joy was having family come for dinner or for a visit and she would always insist they must eat while they were there. Visits with her grandchildren would always put a smile on her face and make her heart glow.
Carmela worked with her late husband, Leonardo, in East Boston for over 25 years in their tailor shop. Together they worked endless hours making sure all their customers' needs were met to perfection.
