Elaine Amancio-Minotti Obituary

Elaine Marie Amancio born in Lynn, MA on March 9, 1944, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 surrounded by family at the Care Dimensions’ Kaplan House after a lengthy illness on July 15, 2022. Elaine was the second child of a family of seven brothers and sisters. She is preceded eternally by her mother Ruth Eleanor (Leavitt) Amancio and her father Nelson G. Amancio.  Elaine grew up on Tower Ave. and Fuller Street Court and eventually spending her teenage years in the Fay Estate where she made many lifetime friends.  She graduated from Lynn English High School in 1962 with her first full time job at New England Merchants National Bank in Boston and part-time for New York Model Bakery.  Elaine’s love of dancing brought her to meet Albert Minotti Jr. and they were married in 1979 at her sister Janis’s home in Saugus.  They became proprietors of Lena’s Original Sub Shop on Boston Street in 1978 serving the best steak and cheese subs on the North Shore. They operated a successful business there until relocating to Danvers Square as Subs Etc. in 1986, operating until closing in 1989.  Elaine was always a people person with love and respect for the elderly working at the Herrick House Nursing Home and Marland Place Assisted Living in the Alzheimer’s Unit and then All Care VNA as a home health aide. She was a companion, care giver and activities director often dressing up for holidays and events to entertain the residents to which she found so much joy.  After moving to St. Cloud, Florida in 2002, Elaine continued her work as a care giver and activities director and became a CNA at Avanti Nursing Home and Savanna Court Assisted Living in St. Cloud before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, painting, dancing, Bingo and of course her beloved Cats.  They returned to Massachusetts in 2021 residing in Stoneham.

Elaine is survived by her Spouse Albert Minotti Jr., who she shared 43 years of marriage, Her children Edward Whittier Jr. and his wife Beth of Lynn, Janis Card and her husband Jonathan of Florida. Her grandchildren, Ryan and Erik Whittier both of Lynn, Louis and Molly Vazquez of Groveland, and great-grandson Coby Vazquez, Her stepsons, Albert, Jon, Michael and Ross Minotti.  Her sisters, Arlene Wilson and her husband Kevin of Salem, Janis Hardin and partner Bob of Danvers, Pam DiNicola and her husband Don of Lynn, her brother Nelson Amancio Jr. and his wife Gail of Salem and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded eternally by her siblings Clifford Amancio and Patricia (Amancio) DeFazio.

Friends and family are cordially invited to visiting hours at the Cota Family Funeral Home, 335 Park Street, North Reading (Located at the Corner of Park St. and Rt. 28 at the Reading Line) on Sunday, July 24th, 2022 from 1:00pm to 3:30pm. 

A Memorial Service Celebrating Elaine’s Life will be held immediately following the visiting hours at 3:30pm in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Care Dimensions Kaplan House, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923, who’s care and love for Elaine and her family is well appreciated.
