Elena (Rosatone) Pasquale

PASQUALE, Elena (Rosatone) age 90 of North Reading passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 16. Beloved wife of her late husband Pietro. Loving mother of son Anthony Pasquale and his wife Chong of Saugus, and her late daughter Diana Pierce. Adored grandmother of Laura and Adam Pierce of North Reading, and Gina Pasquale of Saugus. Cherished Sister of Ettore Rosatone of Peabody, Fernando Rosatone of Somerville, and to the late Antonia DiVecchia, Anna Tulliani, Gemma Civitareale, and Adelina Pasquale. Elena is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. 

Elena was born on October 1st, 1929 to Rosaria and Francesco Rosatone in the small town of Prezza in Abruzzo, Italy. In 1956, after World War II had ended, Elena immigrated to the US where she began a new life in Boston’s North End. Here she married Pietro Pasquale, her neighborhood friend from Prezza, Italy. They later moved to their home in Somerville where they welcomed their 2 children Diana and Anthony. Elena worked as a seamstress in the city for many years and even sewed most of her children’s clothing herself. 

In 1992, Elena and Pietro moved to North Reading with their family. She cared deeply for the yard and their expansive vegetable garden. Elena loved cooking and teaching us all of her favorite Italian recipes. One of the most memorable traditions was jarring her homemade tomato sauce with the family every September. Elena’s kind and loving presence will be missed by everyone who has known her. She will be remembered by all for her strength to carry on and persevere throughout her life. 

Visitation from the Cota Family Funeral Home 335 Park St. North Reading on the Reading line (Rte. 28) on Monday June 22nd from 4-7pm.  Due to the Covid - 19 restrictions, funeral homes are in Phase 2 which allows 40% of our building capacity to be full.  There will be staff on hand during the visiting hours for Elena if anyone may need assistance.  Funeral Mass and interment will be private, but Elena's Funeral Mass in the church will be live-streaming to watch at this link: www.churchofsttheresanreading.org.
