Elinore Mary (Spang) Rogers passed away on November 5, 2023 surrounded by her family. Elinore was born to the late Kathryn (O’Brien) and Edmund Spang on December 27, 1938 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was married to the late James Francis Rogers for forty-seven years and is survived by their four children: Kathryn Gallagher and son-in-law Paul; James Rogers and daughter-in-law, Amy; Christine Holloran and son-in-law, Jim; Patricia Harootian and son-in-law, Peter. A loving grandmother, she leaves grandchildren Katie, Kristen, Hannah, Jimmy, Grace, Chloe, Cam and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Laura, and Emilia.
Elinore grew up in Cambridge and graduated from Boston State Teachers College in 1960. She met the love of her life, Jim, while working at the Five and Dime in Cambridge. They married on June 30, 1962, and moved to Reading where Elinore resided for the past 55 years. Elinore enjoyed being a school teacher in both Reading and Wilmington, where she built deep friendships with many of her colleagues and cherished their many get-togethers in her retirement years. Elinore always looked forward to summers. In her younger years, she enjoyed her time at Meadowbook Country Club with her family and could frequently be found out on the tennis courts with friends. Most of all, Elinore cherished summer vacations on Cape Cod with her family and grandchildren, and created much joy and many lasting memories. Elinore relished spending time with friends and family. She looked forward to gatherings and made every occasion a “party” whether big or small. She especially treasured spending time with her sister, Kathleen Lynch of Wilmington and her family. Elinore’s presence will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
