Elizabeth “Bette” Natalina Barrasso, of Woburn, passed away peacefully at the age of 96, on October 21st, 2023. She was comforted by the presence of her family and friends throughout her final days at the Sawtelle Family Hospice.
Bette was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Lucia (Mottola) Barrasso. She is predeceased by her siblings, Carmen Barrasso, Nedio “Ned” Barrasso, Phyllis Colarusso, Louise DiSilva, Helen Distaso, Mary LaTores and Dorothy Cook. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.
Bette was born and raised in East Boston and later moved to Somerville where she graduated from Somerville High School, class of 1944. She attended BU College of Practical Arts and Letters. Bette had a successful career as a secretary to senior executives at the United Fruit Company and H.P. Hood & Sons.
Bette made friends where ever she went and had a knack for bringing people together. She loved spending time with her family for special occasions and holidays or summers at her home in Falmouth with her many friends. She developed a love for travel while working at a travel agency early in her career. She enjoyed her many trips to Europe and beyond, but especially enjoyed her visits to Italy, the birthplace of her parents.
Family and friends are cordially invited to visiting hours at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading (Corner of Park and Rt. 28 at the Reading Line) on Thursday, October 26th, 2023 from 8:30am to 10:00am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, following the visitation at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading, at 10:30am.
Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, North Reading.
