Facenda, Frances Grace (De Simone) of Waltham (formerly of Lexington) passed away peacefully on October 12.
In her 100 years, she lived a life full of devotion to her large and closely-knit family, including her adoring husband, the late Eugene R. Facenda. Daughter of her late parents, Fortunatina (Catanzano) De Simone and Stefan Pasquale De Simone. Loving and devoted sister to Patricia De Simone Thiboutot and her husband Armand Thiboutot and predeceased sisters Rose Mary De Simone, Alice De Simone Stringos and her predeceased brothers, Frank, John, Salvatore, Louis and Robert. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Frances was an extraordinary cook, specializing in a variety of Italian dishes that could be traced back to her family origins in Gaeta, Italy. Upon entering her home, family members would frequently raise their voices in anticipation and call out, “Is the kitchen open?” In addition to always being there for her family, Frances had a career as a hosiery buyer for Grover Cronin’s Department Store.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 19th from 9:30 to 11:00 am in the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading, MA followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 am in St. Brigid Parish, 1981 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington.
