George Anthony Manzelli Sr.

Manzelli, George, Anthony Sr. of Reading, long time resident of Somerville and originally from the West End of Boston, passed away peacefully on April 10th, at the age of 91. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Catherine Manzelli (Church) of Reading, formerly of Somerville; his daughter, Donna (Manzelli) Rogers and her husband Richard Rogers of Reading, and son Anthony Manzelli and his wife Teri (Dacey) Manzelli of Weymouth; his grandchildren, Joshua, Jacqueline, and Veronica Rogers, Sabrina Manzelli, and Eric Pettorossi, and great-granddaughter, Rosemary Chabrier Rogers. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Teresa (Church)Terranova of Wells, Maine, and Joan and LeRoy Mellum of Waunakee, WI.  In addition, he was the beloved uncle to many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was pre-deceased by his loving parents Antonio and Caroline (Ciampa)Manzelli,  his siblings Alfred, Joseph, Albert, Concetta, Mario, Michael, and Mary, and his beloved son, George Anthony Manzelli Jr.

 Throughout his entire lifetime, George has demonstrated a strength in character that values love, dedication and loyalty to his family and others, above all else. 

 He has always put his love of family and friends first, as demonstrated from his earliest years when growing up in the West End of Boston. The youngest of eight, as a teen, he was the one to help out at home during WWII, when all five of his older brothers were stationed overseas. And when it was his time to enlist, he proudly served during the Korean War. Growing up with a wide and diverse group of family and friends, first in the West End of Boston, then in the military, and next raising a family in Somerville, as well as through his work, and later when retiring to Reading, George created and maintained treasured friendships that have continued to this day.

 George took that same degree of integrity and dedication to the workplace, first as a foreman and manager in his adult life in first the Printed Circuit Company in Waltham, MA, and later, at the Alto-tronics company in Burlington.  Regardless of how important his position grew to be, his loyalty to, and support of fellow workers remained steadfast - right alongside his complete dedication to his employers , many from both groups, with whom he became good friends.

As a family man, there was nothing that could ever come in the way of George’s dedication to his family. He was there for every event, every need, every joy and every sorrow.  His greatest joy was in making children of all ages laugh! This was evident in the love and laughter shared as a father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Aside from love of family, George was a competitive and skilled bowler, lover of all good foods (a love happily shared with family!), a theater and music enthusiast, and a lifetime avid sports fan of all Boston teams!

 George lived a giving and rich life, and will be truly missed by all.
