James "Jimmy" Hickey Jr. went home to be with Jesus on February 8th, 2022 surrounded by his children.
Jimmy was a big guy with a huge heart and loved people; in fact he never met a stranger. He was the 2nd son of 8 children to Mary and James Hickey Sr. Who grew up in the southern part of Massachusetts; most notably Weymouth, MA. Jimmy spent the last 17 years living in the North West as a resident of Oregon and most recently Federal Way, Washington. Jimmy read the words of Jesus in Mark 16:15 where He commissioned the disciples saying "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation" and that's what he did; it was the calling on his life. Jimmy spent years traveling the world spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to many countries including Haiti, Africa, and India. In 1987 Jimmy married Edwina Oakley and took her children in as his own. In 1990 they had the first of their 3 children. Jimmy will be missed, always loved and remembered by his children Iman H. Oakley,
James W. Hickey III, Christopher J. Hickey, and Bridgette E. Hickey. Jimmy is also survived by his siblings Michael J. Hickey, Eileen M. Wall, Cynthia L. Fox, Carolyn F. Zaccardi, Kathleen M. Panora, Brian W. Hickey, Kevin M. Hickey and 4 grandchildren.
A Funeral Services will be held in the International Family Church, 99 Concord Street, North Reading, MA 01864 on Saturday, March 5th at 11am. Followed by internment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
