John married his wife Karen and they settled in Reading to raise their family.  He worked for many years as a program manager at Hanscom Air Force Base and retired in 2010.  John enjoyed music, especially Frank Sinatra, Chicago and Michael Buble’.  He traveled extensively, but his favorite destination was Disney World.  John was a lover of good food and wine.  He owned and operated Ida’s Restaurant of the North End and of Reading.  In addition to his love of food, John loved jewelry and would always have on something nice to go with everything.

Sports were always a joy, but his favorite sports to watch were those that his children and grandchildren played.  John also was a dog lover.  Family was his greatest joy and greatest importance.  His love, closeness and devotion to his immediate and extended family and friends was unlike any other.  He will be deeply miss by all who loved him.

In addition to being the loving husband of Karen, he is the devoted father of Christin Gurgo and her husband Eric of Swampscott, John Bruno and his wife Stephanie of Reading and Philip Bruno of Reading.  Cherished grandfather of Giuliana and Eric Gurgo and Taytum, Maverick and Ashylnn Bruno.  Beloved brother of Paul Bruno and his wife Donna and loving uncle of Michelle, Paul, Diedre, Christopher, Caitlin, Courtney, Brendan, Jonathan, Jeremy, Nathan, Gretchen, A.J., Dante and Santino.  John also leaves his beloved dogs Major, Montana and Teahupo’o.
