Karen McGrail Obituary

Karen L. (McGonagle) McGrail of Danvers, MA passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2024 at the age of 62.  We will greatly miss our treasured wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

Karen leaves behind her loving husband of 24 years Matthew McGrail and cherished son Timothy Klocker;  Her devoted mother Joan McGonagle of North Reading and late father Donald McGonagle; Her sister Carol (McGonagle) Solov and husband Brian Solov and nieces Ashley and Emily Solov of Westford; Her sister-in-law Rachel (McGrail) Edwards and husband Scott Edwards and nieces and nephews Melissa (Edwards) Glazier and husband Jonas Glazier, Bridget, Teddy and Henry Edwards of  Melvin Village, NH; and brother-in-law Dennis McGrail of Utah.

Karen was born February 12, 1962 and grew up in North Reading, MA.  She graduated from North Reading High School and went on to earn her B.S. in Geology from Bridgewater State College.  She worked 25 years at Attwood & Morrill as a contract administer. She lived several years in Sandown, NH before building her life in Danvers with her beloved Matt and Tim.

Karen loved her family and her home.  She enjoyed cooking and canning delicious foods that she grew in her vegetable gardens. She was always welcoming and kind. Karen had an incredible gift of gardening and always enjoyed creating beautiful landscapes around her homes. Karen cared deeply for nature and animals and had a variety of many pets throughout her life. Her special fur-babies, her cats, will miss her dearly.

Karen enjoyed traveling, especially to the western mountain areas and southwestern parts of the United States. Karen has many fond memories visiting Arizona, Wyoming and Utah. She wore the turquoise of the area in her jewelry and decorated her home with many cactus plants. She and Matt enjoyed traveling together and visiting family.

Services will be kept private with her immediate family. Karen will rest at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
