Aldrich, Mark E. Sr.-Of North Reading, May 28th. Beloved husband of Deborah (Traill). Father of Jennifer Kyser and her husband Zachary of NH, Joy DeRoche and her husband Nicholas of NH, Jillian Johnson and her husband Taylor of Chelmsford and Mark Aldrich Jr. of North Reading. Brother of Scott Aldrich of AK. Grandfather of Emma, Barrett and Scarlett.

Mark moved from New York to Camp Lejeune to join the US Marine Corps in 1979.There he worked as a combat engineer, responsible for blowing up bridges, working in landmines, and clearing fields.

During his time in the Marine Corps, Mark made a trip to Cape Cod to see his adored "Gram" and to watch his uncle perform in a nightclub. It was there that he encountered Debbie, the woman who would soon become his wife. Being a man who knows what he wants, Mark proposed marriage after just two weeks of knowing her, and with that, they began to build their family.

Mark had a passion for anything on wheels.  He opened his first autobody shop in Cambridge, Medford, Stoneham, and Reading where is worked tirelessly painting and restoring cars.  Over the years he went on to earn many awards for his talents in restoring cars and drag racing. 

Mark enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, playing darts with The Arrowsmiths, hanging at the Medford Elks club, and playing with his dog, Luke. 

Above all, Mark's biggest smile came when he was with his grandchildren.  He loved bringing them to the garage and showing them "Pop Pop's" cars and antiques, swimming in the pool and telling them stories that begin with “When I was your age…”

Funeral from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (corner of Park St. and Rte. 28), NORTH READING, at Reading Line, on Saturday, June 3rd at 10:30am. Funeral Mass in St. Theresa's Church, 63 Winter St. (Rte. 62), North Reading at 11:30am. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Friday 4 thru 7pm. Interment will be held on Wednesday, June 14th in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, MA at 1pm. Please meet at the funeral staging area.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark’s name online at www.caringforacure.org
