Obituary

Mark Cappelluzzo, of North Reading, beloved husband of 22 years to Heidi Marie (Pelton) Cappelluzzo, passed away on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, at the age of 58.  Born in Malden, he is the loving son of Valentina (Mancin) and the late Silvio Cappelluzzo.

Mark grew up in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School.  Mark was a man of many skills including mechanical engineering, HVAC, plumbing, and could fix anything with moving parts.  He earned his Fireman’s License, along with his 1st class engineer license. Mark worked as a valued member of the OPP power plant team, as a licensed steam engineer, at Phillips Academy in Andover since 2018. Mark worked the overnight shift to ensure that the campus had reliable heat and power. He is remembered by his colleagues as a man of integrity and reliability with an unwavering work ethic. He also worked at Wentworth School of Technology, C.B Richard Ellis, Garelick Farms of Lynn and H.P Hood Dairy.

When Mark wasn’t working around his house, he enjoyed being in his garden and making sure his lawn looked pristine. He believed in conserving nature, particularly saving trees. Mark had a deep love for nature which he shared with his niece Taylor.  He also loved fresh water and deep sea fishing with his best fishing buddies, his nephews and brother-in-law Matthew. Mark was an avid listener of late night talk radio, was interested in politics, and had a vast knowledge of history.  Mark was an animal lover and dad to his faithful dog Murphy, with whom he loved to be outside in nature and walked with at Harold Parker State Forest.  A true New Englander, Mark loved the Patriots and watching Boston Sports.  He was easy to hang out with, have good conversation, and was a wonderful person.  Mark’s greatest joy came from being with his family.  He loved family dinners and gatherings. Not only was he a best friend to his sister Sandra, but a devoted husband to Heidi, a loving son, uncle, and best buddy.  He will be deeply missed by everyone in his life.

In addition to being the cherished husband to Heidi, and a loving son to Valentina and the late Silvio, he is the beloved brother and best friend to Sandra Gallo and her husband Claudio of Melrose. Mark is son in law to  his “Favorite” mother-in-law, Nancy and the late William Haug of Edgefield, South Carolina.  He is brother-in-law to Samantha and her husband Rick Riley of Warner Robins, Georgia, Matthew Pelton and his fiancé Jen Drezek of Irmo, South Carolina, and Susan Pelton of Ronkonkoma, New York.  He is the beloved uncle to Kevin and Brian Gallo and Taylor Pelton.  Mark leaves his devoted dog Murphy and cats, Emily Grace, Bogie and Becall.
