Matthew MacIntyre Obituary

On Friday, June 25, 2021, Matthew Thomas MacIntyre, age 54, beloved son of the late Melvin Joseph MacIntyre (Newton)and Joan Theresa (Daly)MacIntyre, passed away peacefully in his Marblehead residence.  His loss has deeply touched every member of his extended family and circle of friends.  Matthew was an intrepid survivor who faced many overwhelming challenges throughout his early childhood and adolescence.
He was gifted with a positive, effervescent personality, a keen intellect, and a firm faith in the power of love.

He was the youngest of three boys, born on February 23rd, 1967 and spent his early childhood in Newton, MA.  At the age of 3, after losing both parents in a tragic car accident, he was taken in with relatives residing in Stoughton, MA.
Matthew attended Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts, and then pursued a varied career in the service industry.
He was intelligent, dynamic, humorous, unconventional and was blessed with a unique personality. He was an avid fan of classic movies and popular music.  Much of his adult life was spent between the East Coast in the Boston area and on the West Coast in both San Francisco and Los Angeles. Matthew enjoyed vacations to various destinations around the world but Cape Cod, San Francisco, and Italy were the three places that always remained near and dear to his heart and imagination.  Although we cannot accompany him on this final journey, part of us echoes the hope inscribed on his parents’ tombstone: “And hand in hand we’ll go to sleep together".

Matthew is survived by his close friend Giuseppa DiMatto, his eldest brother Paul MacIntyre (Malden), elder brother Kevin MacIntyre (North Reading) along with sister in law Julie (Keohane) MacIntyre, niece Haley MacIntyre, and nephew Connor MacIntyre. His untimely loss is grieved by a large extended family and circle of friends, including many supportive members of the Marblehead community. He will be loved and missed by those who knew him.
Funeral from the Cota funeral Home on Friday July 9th at 9:30am, followed by a funeral mass at Saint Theresa’s church 63 Winter street in North Reading at 10:30am.   Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday night from 4-8pm.  Interment is private.
