Rita (Castaldo) Prew

Rita (Castaldo) Prew, beloved wife of the late Joseph Prew, passed away on Wednesday, March 15th, 2023 at the age of 84, surrounded by her family.  Born in Boston, she is the loving daughter of the late Raphael and Cristina (Zizza) Castaldo.

Rita was raised in East Boston and Revere.  She married the love of her life Joe and they settled in Reading to raise their son.  Rita was extremely close with her family.  She shared a deep bond with her siblings.  Rita’s greatest joy came from being with her loving son, grandchildren, great grandson, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. 

Rita is the devoted mother of Joseph M. Prew and his wife Susan of Derry, NH.  Cherished grandmother of Jaclyn Johnson and her husband Ryan and Joseph R. Prew and his wife Ariana and loving great grandmother of Michael Johnson.  Beloved sister of Frank Castaldo and the late Pasquale Castaldo, the late Teresa Terranova and the late Carmella Pisco.  She is the aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading (Corner of Park St. and Rt.28 at the Reading Line) on Monday, March 20th, 2023 at 9:30am.  Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30am.  Interment to follow in Wood End Cemetery, Reading.

Family and friends are cordially invited to visiting hours at the funeral home on Sunday, March 19th, 2023 from 3pm to 6pm.
