Pedi, Sebastian Paul -Of Danvers, April 12th. Beloved husband of the late Pauline (Mangifesti). Loving Father of Teresa Keenan and her husband Robert of Florida, Joseph Pedi and his wife Jeanne of Wakefield, Donna McCarriston and her husband Allen of Danvers and Catherine McDonnell and her husband William of Temple, NH. Devoted son of the late Giuseppe Pedi and Agrippina (Bucchieri). Dear brother of the late Mario Pedi and Josephine Anastasi (Pedi). Cherished grandfather of Jonathan and Evan Pedi, Sean McDonnell and his wife Haley, Colleen McDonnell and James McCarriston.
Paul was born and raised in Saugus, Massachusetts, to first-generation Italian immigrants Agrippina Bucchieri and Giuseppe Pedi. Together with siblings Mario and Josephine, they were instilled with many Italian traditions including the arts winemaking and fine cooking. Foremost was his father’s belief in the value of a solid higher education in America. Paul, as he became known since his first job as a boy, earned an electrical engineering degree from Northeastern University, Boston, and went on to work for 37 years at Raytheon, becoming Section Manager in the Radar Lab and earning two patent awards. His sister introduced Paul to the love of his life, Pauline Mangifesti, and together their legacy began. Upon return from his military service in 1956, the two were married immediately, first settling in Lynn, Massachusetts and then setting up their forever home in Reading, Massachusetts where they raised their four children.
Paul loved his family dearly and was immensely proud of his five grandchildren. His concern, care, and support for others and his wish for their happiness was always a priority for him. He was forever giving and not asking for anything in return. Being around him, people benefited from his confident calming presence and empathetic ear. He was a man of few words, a quiet constant thinker, but a solid anchor for everyone who knew him. He loved family gatherings and trips to Cape Cod, Canada, and Disney World. Tending his vegetable garden and keeping his yard immaculate were two much-loved activities for him. Pauline would always note how much he loved to constantly putter around the house, inside and out. For seven decades he loved playing tennis, ending his “career” at Middleton’s Northeast Tennis Friday Night Fun Bunch. Paul will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
